Clay Back and Relax: Bathroom

The client wanted to transform their family bathroom into a warm, characterful retreat inspired by Mediterranean earth tones and relaxed modern design. The brief required a balanced layout capable of hosting both an indulgent freestanding soaking tub and an expansive corner shower enclosure without overcrowding floor circulation. Essential priorities included introducing tactile depth through sculpted clay-hued tilework, elevating the warm palette with brushed brass brassware, and establishing an airy, plant-filled atmosphere centred around daily relaxation. 

We designed an open, light-filled spatial scheme that balances tactile architectural relief with soft, organic forms. To establish a grounding horizon line, we specified European Tiles Terra Fired Earth Sculpted Stack tiles running at half-height across the room and extending to the ceiling within the shower enclosure, paired with Mapei Silk grout to accentuate the linear clay texture. Beneath the window, we positioned a freestanding Roper Rhodes Note double-ended bath served by a floor-mounted Ava Trend brass mixer tap for a serene bathing focal point. In the opposite corner, we configured a streamlined shower zone using a low-profile London Showers Symmetry Slim tray, Merlyn Arysto Sleek brushed brass glazed panels, and an Ava thermostatic shower system. To complete the organic aesthetic, we specified a fluted timber washstand paired with a vessel basin, a tall Just Taps Vos mixer, and a clean-lined Faeber Zero close-coupled WC. 

Tactile Clay Surface Specification: Curated the warm material palette, specifying European Tiles Terra Fired Earth 120x60cm Sculpted Stack matt wall tiles with Mapei Silk grout to create a fluted architectural datum line and full-height shower surround.

Freestanding Bathing Zone: Supplied a Roper Rhodes Note 1700mm double-ended bath paired with an Ava Trend floor-mounted bath shower mixer in brushed brass.

Glazed Corner Shower Enclosure: Designed the shower layout and supplied a London Showers Symmetry Slim 25 1000x900mm tray with a brass waste cover, Merlyn Arysto Sleek 900mm hinged door and 1000mm side panel in brushed brass, and an Ava brushed brass thermostatic shower system with a 300mm head, wall arm, and integrated hand shower.

Wash Zone Brassware: Specified a Just Taps Vos tall single-lever basin mixer and universal click-clack waste in brushed brass to complement the fluted timber vanity station.

Sanitaryware Solution: Supplied a Faeber Zero close-coupled rimless toilet pan, matching cistern, and universal soft-close seat in gloss white.

Heating & Coordinated Brass Hardware: Supplied an Ava Frame 1000x500mm PVD brushed brass stainless steel towel rail with minimal angled radiator valves to ensure unified metallic accents throughout.
