Client brief

The client sought a design that was both simple and deeply personal. The objective was to move away from generic modernism and instead inject "lots of character" into each bathroom. Key requirements included the integration of bold colours through tiling, a standout freestanding bath for the larger suite, and a focus on symmetry to create a sense of order and luxury throughout the home.

The process

To achieve a "distinct personality" for each room, our designer utilised a "brick-tile anchor" strategy. By using the same tile format but varying the colour palettes across different rooms, we were able to create a cohesive architectural language while giving each space its own soul. In the larger bathroom, the process focused on "symmetrical engineering", carefully positioning the hardware and heating elements to frame the central bathtub, ensuring the room felt balanced, spacious, and intentionally curated.

What we did

Bold Colour Zoning: Implemented vibrant brick-effect tiles to create high-character backdrops, including a rich deep red hue in the expansive shower enclosure for a dramatic, warm aesthetic.

Symmetrical Statement: Engineered a perfectly balanced layout in the main bathroom, centring a StoneKAST Ovale freestanding bathtub between twin heated towel rails for a look of "classical symmetry."

High-Contrast Finishes: Paired the colourful textured walls with gloss white fixtures, allowing the clean lines of the sanitaryware to pop against the unique tiled backdrops.

Expansive Showering Experience: Designed a large-scale walk-in shower area that prioritises both functional space and visual impact through its bold tile selection.

Tailored Personality: Curated specific brassware and tile combinations for each room, ensuring that every bathroom in the Twickenham property feels like a bespoke design rather than a standard installation.
I have used BathroomsByDesign on three occasions, and I have been very happy with everything. All the staff are super efficient and friendly. Rupert's advice has been so helpful and we are extremely pleased with the contemporary good quality bathrooms we now have in our house.
