Client brief

The challenge for this Thornton Heath property was extreme: a tiny, historic cottage that originally housed ten people was being reimagined for a modern mum of two. The bathroom was previously a dark, compact, and "messy" space that lacked any sense of flow. The brief, coordinated with the show’s interior designer, was to transform this cramped room into a bright, functional, and organised environment that felt significantly larger than its physical footprint.

The process

Working within the constraints of such a small "dolls house" layout required a focus on "perceptual space-making." To achieve the dramatic results seen on screen, we supplied products that maximised light reflection and minimised visual clutter. The process involved replacing the old, dark aesthetic with a palette that allows natural light to "beam" into the room. Every fixture was selected for its dual-purpose capabilities, ensuring the family had every modern luxury without encroaching on the limited space available to maneuver.

What we did

Televised Design Collaboration: Supplied the complete product suite for George Clarke’s Old House, New Home, working strictly to the interior designer's specifications to deliver a high-impact televised transformation.

Light-Enhancing Mirroring: Integrated a large vanity mirror, a critical design tool used to reflect light and artificially expand the room’s narrow proportions.

Versatile Bathing Solution: Suggested a sleek bath screen, providing the client with the essential flexibility to choose between an invigorating shower and a relaxing soak within a single footprint.

Smart Storage Integration: Provided a contemporary basin unit, offering a dedicated space to tuck away bathroom essentials and toiletries, instantly resolving the previously "messy" environment.

Atmospheric Brightening: Replaced the dark, dated aesthetic with modern fixtures and surfaces that utilise natural light to create an airy, welcoming atmosphere.

Space-Efficient Layout: Optimised the room to create "room to maneuver," proving that even the smallest Edwardian cottage can accommodate a high-functioning, stylish family bathroom.
